WORLD-AC (World Athlete Club), having the motto of "Road to the World from Okayama!", aims to employ and train para sport athletes and contribute to the local community through para sports.
Moreover, to convey and disseminate the wonder of para sports, we aim to participate and achieve results (win medals) in various competitions inside and outside Japan.
WORLD-AC currently has three active athletes,
who have gathered in Okayama to "compete against the world".
Sometimes playing the roles of master and pupil,
sometimes comrades in battle, and at other times rivals,
here we introduce these three athletes.
Running at full speed as one with the machine
Competitive wheelchairs are called racers. Among the various types of racers, these are specially designed to run at high speed and are better described as “machines” rather than “wheelchairs”.
The athletes fit into their order-made machines and become one with them. Since the machines have no gears or other assisting devices, the riders operate them using only their physical strength, and the top racers can drive at speeds of 35km/h or above on flat ground.
The attraction of this sports lies in its sense of dynamism and speed. Athletes fascinated by this appeal devote their days to training.
How about taking a look at this attractive world of sport?
