Running at full speed as one with the machine

The world of wheelchair athletics

Competitive wheelchairs are called racers. Among the various types of racers, these are specially designed to run at high speed and are better described as “machines” rather than “wheelchairs”.

The athletes fit into their order-made machines and become one with them. Since the machines have no gears or other assisting devices, the riders operate them using only their physical strength, and the top racers can drive at speeds of 35km/h or above on flat ground.

The attraction of this sports lies in its sense of dynamism and speed. Athletes fascinated by this appeal devote their days to training.

How about taking a look at this attractive world of sport?
